FAQs

Entry Requirements

If you hold a UK passport, you can visit South Africa without a visa for up to 90 days.

Vaccines

No additional vaccines are required unless you are coming from a Yellow Fever zone (the UK is not one, so no vaccine is needed).

Safety

Cape Town is as safe as many other cities around the world—and even safer than some! We wouldn’t get married here if we didn’t believe it was safe for all our guests. Just follow standard safety precautions, and you’ll be fine:

  • Don’t walk at night.
  • Avoid public transport at night.
  • Use Uber for safe and reliable travel.
  • Arrange private transfers throughout your trip.

Once you’re there, you’ll feel relaxed and enjoy how warm, welcoming, and amazing South Africans are!

Flights & Arrival

Please book your flights into Cape Town International Airport (CPT).

There are many options from the UK, including indirect and direct flights. Here’s an overview of some options available:

  • Norse Atlantic Airways are a low-cost airline which fly direct from London Gatwick to Cape Town thrice per week. Approx. cost is £450pp round trip.
  • Ethiopian Airlines offer low fares from both London and Manchester at approx. £500pp round trip via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
  • Kenya Airways offer flights from London via Nairobi, Kenya for approx. £550pp round trip.
  • Qatar Airways fly to Cape Town via Doha for approx. £650-900 depending if you fly from Manchester, Edinburgh or London.
  • Emirates fly to Cape Town via Dubai. Flights are approx. £650-900 depending if you fly from Newcastle, Manchester, Edinburgh or London.
  • British Airways fly direct from both Gatwick and Heathrow, although this is the most expensive route at approx. £800pp.
  • If the above doesn’t suit your needs, there are plenty of options for flying to Cape Town, with airlines like Air France, Lufthansa, Condor, Edelweiss Air, Turkish Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic offering regular flights.

Most flights from Europe arrive in the morning and depart in the evening. Allow extra time for traffic on your way back to the airport.

We recommend booking flights 10 to 12 months in advance to secure the best deals. Please remember, if you’re staying at our wedding venue, you’ll need to arrive on Sunday, 22nd February 2026, which means most guests will need to fly out on Saturday, 21st February 2026.

We often use Skyscanner and Kayak to book flights, both allow you to track the price of flights so you can book the cheapest option.

Wedding Venue Accommodation

We can host up to 32 overnight guests at Brenaissance Wine and Stud Estate.

For a 3-night stay (22-25 February), rooms range from £420–£588, depending on the style of room:

  • Vineyard Suites: £420 per couple for 3 nights (includes breakfast).
  • Orchard Studio: £588 per couple for 3 nights (includes breakfast).

All venue accommodation must be booked through us, with payment due by the end of September 2025. If you’re a single traveller willing to share a room, we can arrange twin accommodations to halve the cost. Let us know if you’re open to sharing. Single occupancy may incur an additional charge—please contact us for details if you’re a solo guest.

Just a reminder, rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you’d like to stay at the venue, please let Joely or Ben know as soon as possible, ideally before 31st December 2024, as we anticipate rooms will sell out quickly.

Lastly, if you would like to arrive before the 22nd February, you can but for an additional cost – just let Joely or Ben know if you’d like to.

You can view each accommodation option on the venue’s website here.

Alternative Wedding Accommodation

If all the rooms at the wedding venue are booked and you’d still like to join us, you’re welcome to arrange your own accommodation. There are plenty of options in the Stellenbosch region, including hotels, B&Bs, and other vineyards. We’d recommend staying in Stellenbosch town so that you can easily access the venue via Uber.

For guests looking to be closer to our venue, there are a number of hotels close by, including:

You’ll still be able to join us for all the activities at our venue too, so you won’t miss out on any of the fun! Just reach out to Joely or Ben and we’ll help you find accommodation close by.

We’ll be in Stellenbosch from 22nd to 25th February 2026. If you’d like to join our planned activities, make sure to book your stay for these dates.

Where to Stay in Cape Town

We recommend the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. It’s a bit touristy but offers great restaurants, shops, and attractions, plus it’s easy to travel around the city. Camps Bay is another excellent option, about 15 minutes from the V&A, with boutique hotels and upscale restaurants.

Here are some of our recommendations by the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront:

Below are more options across Cape Town which we’d recommend. Bear in mind you may need to use Uber or Public Transport to access the main tourist areas:

We stayed in Sea Point on our recent trip, which is also near the beach and just 10 minutes from the V&A by Uber. There are also affordable options in the City Bowl area.

We’ll be staying in the V&A area, so if your budget allows, feel free to join us. It makes planning group activities easier if we’re all close by, but no worries if not—Uber is very affordable, easy to use and safe.

How Affordable is South Africa?

South Africa has been recognised as the top best-value destination for UK travellers! Here’s a snapshot of some of the affordable prices you can expect:

  • Cup of coffee: £1.63
  • Glass of wine: £2.72
  • Bottle of beer: £1.81
  • Dinner with wine for two: £33.31
  • Bottle of water: £0.86

Getting Around

Feel free to share your flight details with us, and we’ll check if other guests are arriving at the same time so you can share transfer costs. Uber is a safe, widely available, and affordable option in Cape Town, but if you’d prefer, we can arrange a transfer from the airport to the wedding venue, especially for those arriving on 22nd February 2026. Let us know if you’d like assistance with this.

Once we have confirmed numbers for those joining us on safari and in Cape Town, we’ll organise transfers so everyone travels together.

Weather

February is one of the best months to visit Cape Town, with average temperatures around 27°C. Don’t forget sunscreen! It can be windy by the beach, so keep a good hold of your hat.

Will you be celebrating in the UK as well?

Can’t make it to our wedding in South Africa? No worries! We are hosting a celebration on Saturday 30th May 2026 at Play in Middlesbrough. Details to come—stay tuned!
